Ian Blair

Ian is the owner of the ISB Consulting Group. He runs a consulting practice assisting small and medium-sized business owners as a business advisor.

Currently, Ian is teaching business classes at Ivy Tech College and Indiana Weslyan University. He also teaches astronomy at Taylor University. He has more than 20 years professioanl experience in diverse fields, including business and financial analysis, managemnt and technology projects, software and web development, marketing, fundraising, and donor development in higher education.

Jim Slater

Jim moved to Upland in 1965. He graduated from Indiana University after which he taught science for 34 years in Shelbyville, IN. Jim was also a swim coach for 30 years and received the Life Time Achievement Award from the Indiana State Teachers' Association. Jim moved back to Upland in 2003 with his wife, LaRea.

In October of 2007, Jim began participating with LaRea as a member of Our Town Upland, Inc. He has greatly enjoyed working with the Upland Lion's Club and Taylor University SIFE students whenever possible. He also enjoys talking advantage of the many opportunities offered to the community by Taylor University.

LaRea Slater

LaRea graduated from Ball State University and received her Master's from IUPUI. She then went on to teach 33 years of English in secondary schools elsewhere. Five years ago, she returned home to retire on the family farm.

Currently, LaRea serves in research and development for Our Town Upland, Inc., seeking interested people in possible businesses in the town of Upland, IN. Functioning as recorder of the meeetings, she has also planned field trips to Farmland and Greenfield, IN for the group.

Lynda Swanter

Lynda has lived and worked in upland for eight years. Currently, she is the assistant to the Associate Vice President for University Relation and Marketing at Taylor University. She has been working in the University Relations office since December of 2000. Lynda also has two sons and one grandchild.

Mary Jane Wagoner

Mary Jane was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana.
In 1976 she moved to Grant County, where she was employed for 181/2 years at the Avis Industrial Corporation in Upland, Indiana.
While working for Avis, she became actively involved in community events. For 10 years, she was Vice-President of the Upland Chamber of Commerce. She joined a group of twelve concerned Upland citizens to help bring the train depot building back to Upland. They created Our Town Upland, Inc. to help promote tourism. Since this group was formed in 1993, she has remained in her position as Secretary I Treasurer. Mary Jane and her husband, Merritt, a retired builder, raised a family of five children, who all continue to reside in Indiana. She works as an Office Manager for a trucking company in Marion, Indiana. In her spare time, she enjoys her grandchildren and continues volunteer work at her local church.
